At the first edition of Bharat Print Expo 2025 in Bengaluru, Nippon Color presented its complete range of pre-press systems, CTP plates, digital printing solutions, and finishing equipment. The highlight was the newly launched Oyang Pixelprint HD series digital inkjet book printing machines.
After Printpack 2025, Nippon Color installed Oyang’s digital inkjet machine at Print Stance in Maharashtra’s Bhiwandi. In operation since 2019, Print Stance is another unit of Powai-based Patel Digital Printers, specifically for corporates. The installed machine is a 440 mm-wide color inkjet press, equipped with Epson HD printheads capable of delivering 1200 dpi resolution, ensuring high-quality outputs.
In a conversation, Akshat Pardiwala, COO of Nippon Color, shared insights on the new technology. “After Printpack, we received many inquiries for our new Oyang machine and its technology,” Pardiwala said. “While inkjet is a mature and widely adopted technology in Europe, it’s still relatively new in India. Many of our customers are exploring it for the first time.”
The company is offering potential clients a first-hand look at the machine’s capabilities by printing their actual jobs on the Pixelprint HD press. The hands-on experience gives prospective buyers a clear understanding of the print quality and value of the machine.
“Inkjet is the future. The question is how soon we can bring that future to reality.” As demand increases, one can expect both the capital investment and consumable costs to decrease, making the technology more accessible to a broader segment of the industry.
A particular feature of the Oyang Pixelprint HD is its dual-color capability—even in the monochrome model. The dual-channel Epson printheads can print two colors simultaneously, offering the advantage of two-color outputs at the cost of a traditional single-color press.
Looking ahead, Nippon Color is already working on technological enhancements, particularly in the post-press segment. According to Pardiwala, there are plans to integrate inline folding capabilities, which would further automate the production workflow.
Additionally, the stacker unit will be upgraded to handle up to 10,000 sheets, a move aimed at increasing productivity and efficiency. The company reported multiple sales of Cron CTP machines during the expo and got strong leads for the Oyang digital inkjet machines.
