Launched on 24 January, the 9712 bi-jet coder is Markem-Imaje‘s continuous inkjet (CIJ) printer targeted at manufacturers who need to print particularly large codes (including 2D codes) or include significant amounts of information on each product. The 9712 codes with one machine what normally requires two; halving manufacturers’ upfront capital costs (CAPEX) and minimizing ongoing operational expenses (OPEX), while still delivering a high-quality code.

Product coding in sectors such as construction, pharmaceuticals, and food can be particularly challenging. Codes on cement bags, for example, are taller than most individual coders can print. In pharmaceuticals, and perishable products like fresh dairy and eggs, regulations often require that manufacturers provide extensive amount of data to ensure safety.

Meeting such demands has often meant using two standard continuous inkjet printers. In some cases, it has even involved slowing down production lines. Alternatively, manufacturers have had to make uncomfortable trade-offs, such as printing less data or using sub-optimal font sizes.

Coding two times faster, or printing twice the amount of data, the 9712’s compact print capacity and Bi-jet printhead properties eliminate these trade-offs and improve production line performance, while still delivering an excellent code.

Capital is freed up for other business priorities since manufacturers just need one 9712 to do the work of two standard CIJ printers. Likewise, maintenance is less, as there is only half the equipment to service and for which spare parts are needed.

The 9712 also comes with many of the other benefits associated with the other Markem-Imaje 9700 series continuous inkjet coders:

Market-leading service intervals between major preventive maintenance and Intelli’Swap technology, which enables you to synchronize parts replacement and swap only individual items (and not the entire block), further minimize line shutdowns and maintenance-related costs versus most competing CIJ printers.

Intelli’InksTM system for error-proof performance, lower consumable consumption and VOC* emissions, along with Jet Speed Control to automatically adjust CIJ printer ink and other printer variables to ensure perfect drop placement, quality and code consistence.

The market’s most easily customizable integration into Industry 4.0 due to 24-pin interface customizable to accept any of 70+ signals available to run lines (currently only available on Markem-Imaje CIJ printers in the market), and an M12 input/output connector compatible various industrial protocols, enabling easier and more seamless integration. Plus, access to an intelligent self-support solution to further cut downtime and achieve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) objectives.

Markem-Imaje, a wholly owned subsidiary of Dover Corporation, connects products and protects brands through intelligent identification, traceability and consumer engagement solutions. It offers a range of marking and coding systems seamlessly integrated with trusted software, services and consumables.
