Typoday 2025, Abstract and Poster submission

Typography Day will be held for the 17th time on 6, 7 and 8 March 2025 at IDC School of Design (IDC), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) with support from India Design Association (InDeAs) and Aksharaya.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Typography and Storytelling’

The event will feature workshops on typography and calligraphy followed by conference dedicated to ‘typography and storytelling’. The international conference will be devoted to addressing issues faced by type designers, type users and type educators. 

The conference includes presentations by invited keynote speakers, eminent academicians, industry professionals, research scholars and students. The event will also host an exhibition of selected posters from the Poster Design Competition.

The event is planned over three days. Day 1 will have workshops on typography and typography quiz

On day 2 and 3, a conference focusing on ‘typography and storytelling’ and a meet on ‘research in typography’ / ‘type design critique session’ will be held.

Days 1 and 3 will feature an exhibition of poster design competition and an exhibition of typographic works from design schools as well as typographic installations.

These is an open poster design competition on the theme typography and storytelling. The deadline for poster submission is 30 November 2024. Results will be declared on 31 December 2024

Call for Papers: Interested people can write a 500-800 word abstract (with examples) in three categories:

  1. Concerns in ‘typography and storytelling’ (academic research/presentations)
  2. Innovative applications of ‘typography and storytelling’ (case studies)
  3. Student projects on ‘typography and storytelling’

The deadline for abstract submission is 15 December 2024; for  accepted abstracts: 31st December 2024 and that for submission of full paper is 31 January 2025.
