Prasanna Rajagopalan of Minosha India highlighted that the digital printing landscape is growing wider at a significant pace. The wave of diversification has been caught on by the southern producers of printed and packaging printing commodities. With the digitalization in many sectors demands for digital finishing have risen attributed to the advancing digital printing technologies. Printing jobs for wedding cards, calendars, and several corporate gifting have increased. The progress is more noticeable with the growth of the packaging industry.

About Ricoh’s machines, he said, “The Ricoh production printers offer substrate flexibility supporting a variety of textured and non-textured media with a smooth finish. They are sturdy with enhanced capacity for volumes and versatile in media handling, highly reliable, and productive with the latest technologies. Minosha introduced a line-up of products that are redefining the printing landscape in India. From enhanced efficiency to unmatched print quality, Ricoh’s innovations aim to set new benchmarks for the industry.”

Rajagopalan says that commercial printing has fallen is not an accurate statement as market interests and demands keep changing so a producer should also be able to change accordingly. “Post-covid we noticed that printers in the south grew about 15%. The shift from offset to digital which the industry is witnessing is due to changing consumer demands. Consumers can pose any kind of job to a printer ranging from 20 to 2000 sheets and in that case the printer requires capacity and flexibility to meet the demands. Digital does not require any plate changing and if the volumes are low, which they are these days, the printer has an alternative.”

Offset poses some challenges which include manpower, processors, and turnaround time for short-run jobs. While digital can be utilized singlehandedly with faster turnaround time. It also enables diversification towards packaging for initial stages offering a better overall return on investment. Customizations such as variable data printing in pharma packaging and digital embellishments are also features that attract new entrants towards digital.
