At drupa 2024, Landa Digital Printing announced a multi-press deal with global printing company Cimpress, which plans to install four Landa S11P nanographic printing presses immediately, with more to be added later. “Landa has agreed with Cimpress on a multi-press deal for the S11P, four colors, with the first presses to commence installations immediately within 2024,” said Gil Oron, CEO of Landa Digital Printing.

Robert Keane, chairman and CEO of Cimpress, said they have been testing and working with Landa over the past eight years since the last drupa. “I believe and am excited to say nanography is now a mature and robust technology. After exhaustive testing, we understand how these presses work in real production situations. With the added benefits of the S11P, such as increased speed and quality, we’ve decided now is the time for us to jump in,” Keane said.

Cimpress was founded by Keane in 1994 and reported over US $3 billion in annual revenues in its last fiscal year. It is a group of 15 eCommerce companies worldwide, specializing in various domains of mass customization.

Cimpress is present in India with its office in Mumbai. Cimpress India is a global capability center for Cimpress. It began its journey in April 2017 and now has over 2,000 people working in various areas of software engineering, graphic design, and prepress services.

Official unveiling at drupa 24

Landa Digital Printing officially unveiled the next generation of its B1 digital print technology, the Landa S11 and S11P nanographic printing presses, on May 28, the first day of drupa 2024. The new Landa models were inaugurated in the presence of Keane.

The Landa S11 and S11P presses offer a print speed of 11,200 sheets per hour (SPH). Commercially available at drupa 2024, these new presses utilize artificial intelligence technology and feature a new PrintAI module. They cater to folding cartons and commercial print applications requiring micro text and other brand protection features.

“After a decade of invention, innovation, patents, and an investment of over 1 billion euros, we are now experiencing very rapid growth with a strong ramp-up,” Oron said. “We now have over 60 presses around the world, half of them installed in the past year. Following the success of our customers, many have already decided to purchase a second or even a third press. This is the ultimate validation and vote of confidence.”

The new Landa S11 and S11P models include a new ink drying system that enables the transfer of dry ink from the blanket to the media at a higher speed of 11,200 SPH.

The Landa S11 and S11P presses can be customized to meet the specific requirements of each customer. Options include a choice of four or seven colors, continuous printing capability, an optional in-line coating unit, and the opportunity to purchase the 11K Module, which elevates productivity to 11,200 SPH, as well as the PrintAI module.
