Heidelberg has announced details of its latest Speedmaster CD102, which the manufacturer claims offers a 10% increase in productivity. The new press which will be available in Europe from April, has a starting price of Euro 1.2 million and it can cut make-ready times by up to 20%, claims Heidelberg.
The older Preset Delivery has been phased out – a relatively manual operation and the new CD102 has a Preset Plus feeder and delivery which will produce faster make-readies and increased capacity.
The new press, available with four, five or six units plus coater, at 15,000 sheets an hour has the same running speed of the previous CD102 model and can handle paper or board substrates from 0.3 mm up to 1 mm thick.
t can be configured with UV curing, automatic wash-up devices and supports Heidelberg’s Preset Plus Delivery, which automates format and air settings, with the Drystar Combination Carton Dryer system with two slide-in modules for infrared and hot air specifically for packaging printing.
The autoplate changer and Prinect Press Centre Compact press control station are standard with color management controlled by Prinect Easy Control. The new device is compatible with Heidelberg’s Prinect workflow and can be connected to the Prinect Image Control color measuring and control system.
The new model press, which is manufactured in Germany at the Wiesloch-Walldorf site for UK and European customers, is targeted at commercial and packaging printers. “The Speedmaster CD102 has gained an outstanding reputation in the market over many years, thanks to its productivity and value retention, and has undergone continuous development by Heidelberg,” adds Heidelberg’s Stephan Plenz.
“With over 50,000 printing units produced, it is the most successful straight-printing press in the B1 format. We are taking this success story another step forward and have enhanced the new Speedmaster CD 102 with innovative technology, adapting it to our customers’ changing productivity needs.” u
