Hira Prints and Stationers, a leading print shop based in Mumbai, recently installed a brand-new Epson SureColor T5630 DM wide format printer to significantly enhance its capabilities in technical and signage printing. This printer will enable the company to cater to a wider range of clients and projects while ensuring exceptional quality and productivity.

The company is using the new printer for technical printing applications such as CAD, GIS, POP and Graphics, and signage printing applications. The printer has been supplied by Mumbai-based Zest Digital Solutions, an authorized partner of Epson. This is the first Epson SureColor T5630 DM to be installed in Mumbai.

Before the Epson SureColor T5630 DM, Hira Prints and Stationers relied on two separate printers for technical and signage printing, which limited its efficiency and flexibility. The new printer’s ability to handle both applications seamlessly has streamlined its workflow and enhanced productivity.

“With the new Epson, we can execute both technical printing jobs and signage printing applications on the same machine. Earlier, we had to use two different printers to do these two different applications. The running cost of the Epson is attractive and pocket-friendly. We installed the printer around the early part of October and since then our productivity has gone up significantly,” says Manish Suresh Chavan, director of Hira Prints and Stationers.

The Epson SureColor T-series is a series of large-format color printers that print precise technical line drawings, blueprints and signages. The core technologies of this series, such as the PrecisionCore printhead and the UltraChrome XD2 pigment ink, are developed by Epson.

Talking about the printer, Chavan says the machine is energy-efficient as it is inkjet printing technology. The printer is made out of 30% recycled plastic, and the ink comes in recycled plastic ink pouches instead of bulky ink cartridges, he says.

Hira Prints and Stationers was founded by Manish’s grandfather almost five decades ago. The digital printing unit, where the new Epson has been installed, is located in Bandra East. This unit handles the technical, signage and digital commercial jobs. For digital commercial printing work, Hira Prints uses a Canon imagePress press. The Bandra unit also has a large number of finishing machinery.

Hira Prints and Stationers has a full-fledged commercial offset and carton printing division which is located in Navi Mumbai. This unit has Heidelberg offset presses.

Strong growth expected

Chavan expects its technical printing and signage printing business to grow rapidly in the coming years, and demand for environmentally friendly signage printing to grow rapidly.

“When it comes to signage, we service interior designers, photographers, and event companies, among others. I expect signage printing demand to go up as public events such as exhibitions, seminars, and conferences have returned with great vigor. As such large public events return to normal demand for indoor signage will grow. I also see strong demand for environmentally friendly substrates such as fabric to be very strong in India going ahead,” he said.
