At Media Expo 2016, Ricoh displayed its aqua latex printer, Pro L4160. “The printer comes in 5 ft. format. It is excellent for in-house and outdoor banners and standees,” says Deepak V Clifford, sales manager – DC (PP). Along with CYMK, the printer can print special colors – orange, green and white, which are not available in latex-based printers of any competitor, according to Clifford. At the exhibition, Ricoh also showcased a small cutsheet printer for production printing – Ricoh Pro 5100s.

“Latex-based inks are more eco-friendly and are not considered hazardous to health. These inks are odorless as well,” says Clifford. “Our special inks – orange, green and white – pose a tough competition for our customers. In fact, our competitors are yet to come up with latex-based white ink technology. The main attraction for the customers is white – people require the white because ‘transparent on transparent media’ results in excellent print quality.”

Speaking about the market, Clifford says, “The signage market is growing. Every six months, you can find something new happening in the industry. Now wide format is going remote and so big numbers are expected from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.”

“We are new in the latex-based large-format industry. However, we are totally geared up and our team is in place. We are ready to rule the market. With the training and support from our corporate and regional office, we have already started selling our product across India,” says Clifford.
