Five large format print service providers (PSPs) from Bengaluru organized the country’s first Dscoop event in the city on 19 February 2016. Various PSPs involved in outdoor and indoor signage, advertising and commercial printing and close to 30 brand owners from FMCG, telecom, IT and other verticals attended the event.

The event was sponsored by HP, Esko and 3M. All the three sponsors presided over various sessions to share industry best practices in digital printing, software and new innovations. “Customers’ needs are evolving rapidly and they are looking at innovations in digital printing to answer these needs. The Dscoop event was about the future of the digital printing industry and brought together all the key stakeholders in the ecosystem. We had HP as our executive sponsor – the technology leader in digital printing along with 3M and Esko as the key partners for the event and some of our PSPs who are doing path-breaking work. All these stakeholders discussed the industry best practices and unique possibilities with respect to digital printing, software, and printing applications with brand owners,” said Biju Paul, board member of Dscoop, Asia Pacific.

Puneet Chadha, director – market development, Graphics Solutions Business, Asia Pacific and Japan, HP, shared insights on industry best practices in digital printing and also referred to large format success stories from around the globe, helping brand managers and PSPs explore new possibilities to reach their end customers. Santhosh PG, business development manager, Commercial Solutions Division, 3M, emphasized building the brand image with sustained and effective customer communication and touched upon some of the recent innovations in signage and displays especially from a retail standpoint.

Frederick John, sales manager, Packaging and Containers – South at Esko India discussed how point of purchase (POP) needs to be compelling enough to inspire and relate to customers’ aspirations, hence playing a key role in their buying decisions in a retail environment. He also discussed case studies from across the globe and talked about arriving at the perfect work flow 3D presentation through the studio visualizer.

The presentations were followed by guided tours to large format application stations showcased by partnering PSPs and included innovative commercial printing applications and application stations by 3M and Esko. There are plans to organize the next Dscoop event in May in Mumbai.
