Manugraph’s technology and engineering strengths were demonstrated once again with its work in successfully upgrading an existing Heidelberg Harris heatset web offset press line in Mumbai recently at SAP Print Solutions. The integration of the ManuColour press control system with a CIP-3 interface was executed by replacing the earlier Microcolor remote ink zone system. The retrofit of the ManuColour on the heatset press for ink-adjustment substantially enhanced the machine’s performance.

To further optimize the functionality of the press, the MIL team felt more software modifications were required and introduced the ink and dampening tracking control feature in ManuColour. This has resulted in improved quality, greater ease of operation and maximum optimization of time, energy and paper.

In addition, Manugraph also designed, manufactured and fitted a new induct roller system for the press. MIL’s global quality manufacturing standards ensured that precision was maintained during the manufacturing of the ink duct rollers with a special process, thus meeting the optimum production requirements. As a result of all the innovations and retrofits, SAP Solutions is now able to use the existing heatset press more effectively for printing quality jobs with minimum wastage.

“We are delighted with Manugraph for having done such a great refurbishment job on our existing Harris machine” said Santosh Bamne, director, SAP Print Solutions of Mumbai. “Detailed research by the MIL R&D team and close collaboration with us led to this significant breakthrough. Manugraph also added several important features enhancing the print quality tremendously and successfully upgraded the press design,” concluded Bamne.

By successfully refurbishing the Heidelberg Harris heatset press, Manugraph has firmly outlined its strategy of reducing customer costs and increasing value with a new generation of engineering systems that can be used to upgrade existing products. Upgrades can be tailored to individual business needs from small to large scale requirements and the company has the expertise, advanced engineering technology and service capabilities to meet all such requirements.

Manugraph is a world-class manufacturer especially in the 2 x 1 segment which has also manufactured 4 x 1 shaftless presses in recent years. It is a company with considerable design, engineering, manufacturing and maintenance resources that are ideally suited for the execution of custom solutions for modernizing valuable assets that are already in place in the country or that are available in the global market.
