Abrand new Heidelberg PM74 was installed in Patparganj in 2007. Although several used Heidelberg presses have been installed in the Patparganj Industrial Estate in East Delhi in the past decade, December 2016 finally saw the installation of a new Heidelberg Speedmaster 4-color press at Royal Offset. The company printed its first commercial job on the press on 26 December 2016.

“A Heidelberg press is a robust machine with no comparison, and for us to own a new Heidelberg is like a long-awaited dream being fulfilled,” says Baljeet Singh Arora of Royal Offset. The new SM74 follows the installation of a Komori Enthrone 29 4-color press by the company in August 2015. Royal Offset’s first brand new press, the Komori E426 was also the first of the series to be installed in North India, according to Arora.

Royal Offset prints business cards, calendars, catalogs, certificates, diaries, flyers, invitation cards, letterheads, magazines, posters and brochures. The company prints about 6 lakh visiting cards daily. “We used to print bulk visiting cards on the Komori, but now our customers have the option of getting their cards printed on the new Heidelberg as well,” says Arora.

A highly-automated feeder Patparganj in Delhi gets a brand new Heidelberg Royal Offset installs Speedmaster SM 74 4-color press with central suction tape helps the Speedmaster SM 74 handle a range of substrates from thin paper to board varying from 0.03 mm (0.0012 inches) to 0.6 mm (0.024 inches) in thickness. With extremely userfriendly and ergonomic operation from the Prinect Press Center Compact, the automated feeder uses an innovative and precise Intellistart process-oriented operator guidance system to place the sheets on the unique suction tape sheet transport.

Automation features such as AutoPlate and programmable washup devices minimize makeready times. The Prinect Easy Control color measuring system, which is fully integrated into the machine control station, reduces paper waste levels. The delivery options include a compact standard unit or a convenient high-pile model – both ensuring high quality stacking for rapid inputs to finishing operations. With a production speed of up to 15,000 sheets per hour, the SM74 is exactly what one needs for a perfect commercial printing setup, according to Arora.

“The Heidelberg SM 74 is a reliable press for medium-size formats for the economical printing of traditional print jobs like brochures and advertising mailers. Equipped with the latest technology, it provides flexible processing of different production run lengths,” said Arora’s son Amanpreet Singh. In the past two months, the new press has already printed 40 lakh impressions. According to Singh, the company has now increased its ability to print more short-run quality jobs, which is their forte.

Royal Offset’s short-runs are of about 1000 sheets on average. With the commissioning of the new SM74, the company prints about 40 lakh sheets each month using the new Heidelberg and Komori presses. Royal’s prepress unit has an Amsky Ausetter Ctcp, which produces around 8,000 plates every month. Using mostly TechNova plates this high number of plates fulfill inhouse and third party needs. “We believe in delivering better quality to our clients. Since we have our own in-house prepress unit, clients can expect a long and list of benefits in addition to saving time and money while taking home high-quality prints,” said Arora.

Speaking about the onset digital printing for short runs, Arora’s son Amanpreet Singh says, “We do face competition from digital. However, since both technologies have their particular pros and cons, they are able to coexist and bring about a positive impact for customers in the printing industry. Both forms of printing fulfil a variety of needs and demands; so it is easy to predict that they are meant to have a promising future together.”
