At PrintPack India 2017, Canon launched ten new digital presses—its biggest ever at any Indian exhibition till date. The ten products include the 12-color imageProGraf Pro520 and imageProGraf Pro-540, 8-color imageProGraf Pro-540S, 5-color imageProGraf 671E and imageProGraf Pro-560S in the imageProGraf Pro series; the Océ ColorWave 700; the imagePress C850, imagePress C750 and imagePress C650 digital color production presses; and the imagePress C8000VP, based on the highly popular imagePress C10000VP.

Of all the products on display at the Canon stand, the imagePress C10000VP commanded undivided attention owing to its exceptional quality, productivity and versatility at 100 ppm across a vast variety of applications. Even the imagePress C8000VP launched during the event is based on the successful legacy product C10000VP, which has received phenomenal response in mid- and high-end print volume segment.

“The imagePress C10000VP press can perform diversified applications on diversified substrates. This is one of the best products we have ever launched,” said Puneet Datta, director for professional printing products division, Canon India. “With C10000, we have taken digital printing (or even commercial printing up to some extent) to the next level. Not only can you do normal printing, but you can also do very deep textured printing for packaging using this press. Although the press is not meant for very long runs, if you want to show some proof of concept or samples to your packaging customers, before actually going for the long run, this is the best machine available in the market right now. The machine can be ideal for short run printing of labels, monocartons and more.”

“A packaging company can always visit digital printers to print sample monocartons or labels. So this press can open up a lot of avenues for digital printers.”

According to Datta, the C10000 press is getting excellent response from visitors at the event. However, he feels that people are confused if it would be a good decision to invest in this press for packaging printing.

“They might not invest straight away but the press offers a wide plethora of creative and innovative printing capabilities to digital printers,” he says. “A packaging company can always visit digital printers to print sample monocartons or labels. So this press can open up a lot of avenues for digital printers.”

According to Datta, the digital printing market will continue to grow at a very significant rate for the next 8 to 10 years. Speaking about the exhibition, he shared, “The first two days of the PrintPack exhibition has already put us on a strong growth curve; the ten presses launched at the show have been sold in two days. This speaks a lot about the response from the printers.”
