Paperex, the well known and established exhibition and conference focusing on the paper, pulp and the related concerned industries finally started off on the morning of 10 May 2022 after the several delays and postponement caused by the pandemic over the past years. The footfall was good at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida which is across the river from Delhi and Hyve India, the organizers welcomed the exhibitors and visitors with warmth to the event. We had an opportunity to look at the entire spectrum of products and services relating to the Indian paper and allied industries and the strong links that it has with the global industry and suppliers.

The opening day’s seminar at Paperex discussed ‘Moving towards sustainability by maximizing paper and corrugation packaging.’ Sudeep Goenka, director, Shubham Goldiee Masale, and Sanjay Gupta, vice-president of corporate procurement and packaging development, DS Group, were the speakers. Both themes talked gave their views on the compelling arguments for sustainable packaging and the time bound paths that their organizations are taking to achieve this.

PrintPack Show Daily

Our organization, IPP Catalog Publications also has a stand at Paperex and your Indian Printer & Publisher correspondent and our team spoke to some of the exhibitors participating and the visitors who attended the event on the first day. Speaking about their experience and expectations from the show they mainly indicated that the large crowds were wholly unexpected.  Resuming after the two pandemic years the turnout and the interest pleased the exhibitors as they found the visitors searching for better and more innovative paper products in an environment where the supply chain for the paper itself seems to be under pressure and raw material prices are a constant worry.

For those who missed attending on the first day of Paperex, registration is available at the entry gate of the India Expo Center and passes are there for the show. It is better to get back into the industry’s recovery earlier than later and find out about the latest grades technology of paper and paper board. It is even more important for the paper mills to understand the forthcoming demand and whether it can withstand the rise in costs and what are the next technologies and materials required for the road to sustainability.
