Komori, who hosts the exhibition’s largest booth at the biennial IGAS in Tokyo where it will introduce its Innovate to Create concept and show its evolution as a Print Engineering Service Provider (PESP).

It plans to show technologies, products and systems for IoT through its KP-connect Pro connecting pre-press, press and post-press and its new offset Autopilot and Parallel Makeready technologies. Its duplex printing version of the Konica Minolta Accurio KM1, the Komori Impremia IS29 B2 inkjet digital printing system will be shown running at its stand as will the Apressia CTX fully automatic cutting system.

Komori says, that what the printing industry needs now is a shift from manufacturing to creative. Based on its Innovate to Create concept, will present solutions that answer customer issues, starting with KP-Connect, currently connecting nearly 250 machines and provides visualization of production status such as operating conditions and operating totals.

The demonstrations will show Connected Automation, which maximizes production efficiency by linking prepress, press and postpress using the evolved KP-Connect Pro as middleware that connects processes. New offset technologies include Autopilot, an automatic operation system that provides nonstop printing from test printing to production printing, and Parallel Makeready that shortens preparation time by running the job changeover processes in parallel.

Komori will show its multicolor Lithrone GX 40 6 color H-UV L (LED) with inline coater at IGAS. For diverse applications, including package printing this press prints on a wide sheet thickness range of 0.06–1.0 mm, at an 18,000 sph maximum printing speed. Combining parallel control of the A-APC Asynchronous Automatic Plate Changer, blanket washing and roller cleaning with the latest KHS-AI V6 integrated control system, the Lithrone GX40 also has what Komori claims is a revolutionary Parallel Makeready that greatly reduces the operator workload, paper waste at print start-up and changeover makeready time. The exhibit press is equipped with the functions optimal for board and package printing, the high sensitivity H-UV L (LED) UV curing system and ink mist and VOC recovery system for the ecosystem and the working environment.

Anilox changer, PDC-SX and PQA Dramatically improving ease of use when changing the quantity of coating, the anilox roll for coating changer can be loaded with up to four anilox rollers. This automates the heavy roller changing work, significantly reduces the workload and improves the working environment. The PDF Comparator System optional with PDC-SX provides powerful backup for print quality stability. Printed images are read by image sensors, enabling comparison with the PDF data used for plates. This enables checking for missing printed characters in the initial printing stage and the prevention of production losses and the outflow of defective sheets. Equipped with the Sheet Numbering System optional with PQA-S V5 Print Quality Assessment System for Sheetfed. The system prints a serial number above the feeder board, allowing checking for defects and waste sheets and contributing to strengthened quality control (traceability).

The demonstrations on high value packaging board will highlight H-UV L (LED) fast print drying as well as K-Supply coating and special inks; the quick changeover of package jobs, including changeover of special colors and anilox rollers; the PQA-S Print Quality Assessment System for Sheetfed and PDF Comparator System using processless plates; and, printing process control using the KP-Connect Pro.
