Bharat Copy Centre recently established its fourth branch in Mumbai in the bustling commercial and educational area of Andheri East. The branch specializes in digital printing and serves mostly retail customers. To make its finishing operations more efficient and productive, it has installed an automatic creasing and perforation machine by Italy’s Bacciottini supplied by Hi-tech Systems.
“Before opting for the Bacciottini creasing and perforation machine, the Digi Line Touch, we were using a punching machine through which we could achieve maximum speeds of 1,000 to 1,500 sheets per hour. Now we can process 8,000 sheets in one hour. It’s a huge jump,” says Ratilal Patel, proprietor of Bharat Copy Centre.
This is not the first Bacciottini creasing and perforation machine for Bharat Copy Centre. Six years ago, it bought its first machine but that one runs at 6,500 sheets per hour and is installed at Bharat Copy Centre’s Andheri MIDC branch.
“We were already using a Bacciottini machine and were very satisfied with it and the services provided by Hi-tech Systems. When we were setting up this branch, we wanted to go for another one but with higher speed. So we went for the Pit Stop Digi Line 8000,” Patel shares.
According to Patel, the new creasing and perforation machine has helped in achieving faster turnaround time which in turn helps Bharat Copy Centre to service its customers much faster.
“We can print at high speeds but if we get stuck during the finishing stage, it doesn’t make much sense. We wanted to have efficient postpress operations and Bacciottini has greatly helped us in achieving that,” Patel says.
The Digi Line 8000 is made in Italy and is fully automatic suction fed with size 20” x 28”, which is extendable up to 20” x 39”. It has a speed of up to 8000 sheets per hour and has zero wastage with a make-ready time of less than two minutes. The machine has touch screen operations and can crease up to 400 gsm paper and up to 600 gsm paper with special tool.
Footprint in the digital printing hub of Andheri East
Bharat Copy Centre’s newest branch is its fourth one in Mumbai. The print service provider started with its first branch in Fort area in South Mumbai and then opened its second branch there. It then established its third branch in Andheri MIDC. The newest branch near Andheri station was set up to capture the retail customers. It has a Canon 10000VP digital press and other machines for flex printing.
“The Andheri East area has become one of the biggest digital printing hubs in Mumbai. We were present at Andheri MIDC but that branch was dealing mainly with corporate customers. With the branch near Andheri station, we are now able to service retail customers as well. This area has numerous educational institutions and so the demand for digital printing is very robust,” Patel concludes.
