Q.I. Press Controls responds to QuadTech’s injunction in Germany
July 14, 2008

On Tuesday afternoon 8 July 2008, we received this press release from Q.I. Press controls in answer to the QuadTech press release regarding the injunction that they have obtained in Germany against Q.I. Press Controls. We reproduce the Q.I. statement below:

During Drupa 2008, Q.I. Press Controls proved its leading innovative position by introducing its latest innovation, the mRC. It is the only, operational, fully automatic colour and cut-off register system for web offset presses that can use both the printed image and printed micro marks as its reference. In case mRC is running in “mark-mode” it will be using the world’s smallest register marks which are virtually invisible by the naked eye. With this system Q.I. Press Controls gains a competitive lead over its competition in the graphic industry for the coming years.

On July 2, 2008, we were served with the decision of the Regional Court Düsseldorf of June 17, 2008, by QuadTech to stop to offer, bring on the market, use, import or posses for these purposes the mRC in markless mode in Germany. Q.I. Press Controls will of course respect this decision. In contradiction to what is said in the media, also in Germany Q.I. Press Controls will remain selling mRC however running with the world’s smallest register marks. Q.I. Press Controls will go into appeal to the decision of the Regional Court Düsseldorf.

Menno Jansen, chairman Q.I. Press Controls indicates: “Of course it is a setback for us not to be able to promote our latest innovation to the fullest in the German market and to deprive this market to benefit from the advantages the system offers in markless mode. However it also indicates that we are the first to offer a functional markless register system and at this moment there is no other supplier capable of offering the same.”

Seems to me this is nothing more than the pot giving an interview about the kettle.
