CGS receives SWOP and GRACoL certification on latest Canon printers
July 15, 2008

CGS Publishing Technologies manufacturer of colour management solutions, digital proofing systems and specially-formulated media, announced on 11 July 2008 that it is the first company to receive certifications for the Canon imagePROGRAF iPF x100 series of printers. “Canon is excited to be a partner with CGS on SWOP and GRACoL standards. These certifications certainly prove that the Canon iPF range meets the expectations of customers in the high quality, contract proofing market,” states Ami Bagchi, director of printer division for Canon U.S.A., Inc.

Certification has been granted for Grade # 3 SWOP on ORIS PearlProof Commercial, Grade # 5 SWOP on ORIS PearlProof Publication and Grade # 1 GRACoL on ORIS PearlProof Super and ORIS PearlProof Select on the Canon iPF x100 series. The ORIS PearlProof family of media is made to CGS specifications under the strictest manufacturing tolerances ensuring consistent batch-to-batch quality. With an exclusive ultra-fine grain nanoporous coating, ORIS PearlProof media are claimed to provide double the surface area of common microporous papers thus allowing for higher ink densities, uniform ink absorption, better shadow detail, and a larger colour gamut with faster drying. The exclusive single-pass coating ensures very low defect level, greater consistency and stable Lab values.

Heath Luetkens, CGS Director of Technology, commenting on the certification stated, “CGS is pleased to be the first company to receive industry certification with the Canon iPF x100 series. Certifications like this are very important for achieving perfect colour matching. CGS is committed to all colour standards as a means of assuring the best quality for users of proofs created by ORIS products.”
